Ignitz Predictions: 10 Nigerian Artistes That Will Make Waves In 2018

Nigerian Artistes had an amazing 2017. From winning Global awards to International Collaborations.  Based on the events that happened in 2017, here are our predictions for this year. Remember, you saw it here first!

2017 was the year for the sharks in the Nigerian Music Industry.  Talk of Wizkid, Davido, Falz, Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Phyno, Olamide and the rest of them but we really think 2018 will take a slightly different twist giving room to the B-list artistes to shine as well while the A-listers continue riding high.

Check out our 2018 predictions
1. Mayorkun will become a “banger”

With the back to back hit singles like ‘Mama’ that Mayorkun had us dancing to in 2017 + the turn out at the first edition of “The Mayor of Lagos” Concert, we really think 2018 is ‘his year’ to move up to the Top Notch list. He’ll be releasing his album in 2018 and the songs will be club bangers! That’s one artiste to watch out for.

2. Wizkid will soar higher internationally

It has started already! Wizkid is scheduled to perform alongside Beyonce, Eminem and other A-list Artistes at Coachella 2018 . We see more of this happening for the Starboy this year. We also ‘smell’ a Collabo between him and Davido. Not sure if this is our intuition speaking or a heart deep wish. LOL. We really hope the reconciliation will lead to a fine tune we can dance to in 2018.

3. Speaking of Davido, OBO will set us on ‘FIA’ again

With his ‘If’, ‘Fall’ and ‘FIA’, Davido no doubt was the biggest artiste locally in 2017 and we see this happening again. Davido will also be looking outwards to International platforms, performances and collaborations in 2018. We expect a few hits from him again this year.

4. The Return of Mr Eazi

Mr Eazi shall rise again! In 2016, Mr Eazi was the breakout star of the Nigerian music industry. The 25-year-old Nigerian born musician rose meteorically within the country, with the speed of lightning but 2017 wasn’t exactly the same for him. We think he’ll shine again in 2018. *Fingers crossed*

5. It’s Tekk Time

Whatever Tekno and Drake have been cooking will definitely “come closer” in 2018. Both Tekno and Drake took to Instagram to tease us with a post that simply read “Tekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk time”. What we think? It’s a song (either a remix of an old song or a new jam). We honestly don’t mind either.

6. 2018 will be SAVAGE

We see the Number one African bad girl Tiwa Savage riding high again in 2018 with a lot of collabos with Nigerian artistes and beyond. 2018 will be Savage!

7. Mo’Hits All Stars???

We dare wish for a collabo from one of Naija’s favourite guy crew; Mo’Hits. The reunion of the Mo’Hits crew at Davido’s 30 Billion Concert got quite a lot of us teary and we can only wish they give us a major comeback slam single in 2018.

8. Wale Turner

Wale Turner would be looking to build on the buzz he made in 2016 &2017 with singles ‘No’ among others. We’ll see how that works out.

9. Dotman

Olatunji Oladotun Alade, popularly known as Dotman, is a Nigerian singer. He is most famous for his hit single “Akube”. The 24-year-old is signed to U & I Music, His most recent single “My Woman” is definitely a jam. We absolutely think he’ll enjoy more airplay in 2018.

10. It’s Wande Coal

Black Diamond Entertainment CEO, Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe popularly known as Wande Coal broke his silence in April 14th, 2017 with the release of his highly anticipated video for hit Afro beat sound Iskaba featuring DJ Tunez. This is certainly still a jam. We definitely think he’ll make a major come back in 2018.
